BISHOP AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE & VISITORS BUREAU, BISHOP, CA: I've been to quite a number of visitor centers over the years, but found the Bishop visitor center to be just what you might expect, but also uniquely different. I've included a few pictures just so you could get the feel of the place. It is packed with souvenirs, pins, Tee shirts, hats, and memorabilia. And as you can see, it also has posters and plaques and other things mounted on the walls.
A warm, friendly, gentleman greeted us when we came in and asked us if we needed help. I ask him about a book and he help me to find it, then he also help some collectable "Bishop" pins. I also walked away with a ball cap that I really liked. And, after I have finished collecting what I wanted, I paid for my items, we began talking about photography.
As the talk went on my husband kept dropping hints that he wanted to go, but I couldn't tear my way myself away from the talk. I loved talking about where to shoot local photos, and, I guess I was just enjoying myself. No one else was in the store and time began to slip away and as it was nearing closing I didn't feel too guilty about monopolizing his time. I appreciated all the local tips and pointers about where to go to shoot my photographs. Thanks to his kindness and generosity, I learned about some good places to shoot my photos. And the sweet man even said my husband was a king--my husband smiled at that.

Nicest Chamber of Commerce I've ever been in - with the nicest, most helpful person working there. She made me an appointment with a groomer for my cat! You can't beat that!

Ms. Thomson is the perfect person to be heading the team at the Bishop Chamber. She has retained staff and volunteers, works wonders with the public, promotes Bishop and the Owens Valley, and is a straight shooter. It's a warm and welcoming center, chock full of all the souvenirs and information visitors would want to take home as a memento of their time spent in California's deepest valley.

Very informative each time we are in and always have very knowledgeable staff. I phoned in once about weather/fishing conditions and was updated about lakes open and closed along Bishop Creek.
I am very glad to see you do not advertise for the Mountain View Motel, as the current managers (Aug. 2017) do not treat seniors with dignity and have multiple fraudulent reviews.

This place is great. If you need to plan an outdoor activity in the valley or have any sort of questions regarding the area, this is the place to go. Joe was extremely knowledgeable, and all of their staff seems excited to help anyone who walks in. A wonderful experience.

The bishop chamber of commerce is only interested in patting their own backs. They have continued to advertise for people to come to the inyo area during a pandemic. They promote "buy local first" then avoid buying local themselves. The chamber is only concerned with lining their own pockets.
