Best Western Plus Boomtown Casino Hotel - Verdi, Nevada

I have been going to Boomtown for over 30 years, and sadly, it is no longer the establishment I once knew. More recently, I’ve tried to give it the benefit of the doubt, hoping things would improve, but after numerous changes—both in management and atmosphere—it feels like no one goes there anymore. The place is consistently empty, and the overall experience has completely deteriorated.

The worst part, however, is the security staff. During my most recent visit, I was followed, interrogated, and treated like a criminal for simply being there and trying to spend money. They made me feel so uncomfortable that I ultimately left. At one point, they even told me they were “watching me.” How is that supposed to make a loyal guest feel welcome? It was an incredibly unsettling experience and makes it clear why their parking lot is never full.

I had originally planned to stay at Boomtown with my parents for the remainder of the week, but after this treatment, we decided to take our business elsewhere. After decades of loyalty, it’s disheartening to see how poorly they now treat longtime customers and locals.

What makes this even worse is that I was actually there to write a story on Boomtown for a local magazine, intending to highlight its history and hopefully encourage more people to visit. Instead, I left with a sour taste in my mouth and no desire to ever return. If this is how they treat guests, it’s no surprise the place is empty.

Boomtown has lost my business for good. If you value customer service, respect, and a welcoming environment, I strongly recommend taking your time and money elsewhere.

Pool and buffet under renovation. This should be advertised. Got charged for resort fee when pool is unavailable. Front desk told me pool is an amenity, then should it be included in room fare? Kid wanted to go swim and eat buffet. No good food there so ask worker if she could recommend a good one, she told us there is a good restaurant outside by gas station. Wow, cannot even recommend food inside the hotel. That says it all.

I took my kids here for a fun day out. We wanted to buy the unlimited right package. However, we were told they didn't have enough attendants for the rides. We say that the Marry Go Round was in service, so got tickets. It was my kids turn to go on, and attendant left. This place is mediocre at best.

GRACE IS AN EMBARRASSMENT TO THIS LOCATION.
We had a reservation for two rooms already complete. We called to ask some questions and she was just unprofessional and rude. I asked if I should call back and told her that she was being rude, she told me she is going to hang up. And believe me she hung up. I called back to get a supervisor and best believe her voice and attitude was different. Cancelled both rooms and never again.
Grand Sierra Resort took my call and got our business, my only request to get conjoined rooms wasn’t an issue at all with them. Hard no to Boomtown, over the years it sucks to see the choices management makes when choosing their customer service reps. They definitely need to keep a better eye on how these ungrateful employees speak to customers.

Nice amenities. Easy access from freeway. Several dining options. Cabala's close by. Less than an hour from Lake Tahoe. Away from the hustle and bustle of downtown reno. King suite was very nice. Casino was spread out nicely, not all cramped up.

Would easily be 5 stars except for the lingering cigarette smoke on the entry casino floor. Great hotel with spacious rooms. Stayed on a Thursday night in January and was hardly anyone on the main casino floor, so if you like to have all the games to yourself, this is the place! Near Cabelas and only 15 minutes from downtown Reno. I will surely stay here again.

A good hotel - budget priced but very comfortable and clean. I stayed here as part of a ski trip to North Star Tahoe. 30 mins from the hill. You are also closer to "normally" prices food and drink than on the hill. It's not ideal to be far from the hill but you can't beat the price and the quality that you are getting for the price, if you just need a good, quiet place to rest/relax after the skiing (and don't mind the drive).

We visit once a month to eat at Mel's dinner. The recently did the carpet so unlike many casinos it doesn't stink when you walk in. We always get the best service in the restaurant. Food is fantastic!
