What a great experience. We were lucky, and had a gorgeous day and pretty good waters. Our Captain was Frank, who was great. Fun, very personable, knowledgeable (handsome) and always made you feel safe. He gave you warning when we were going to go over larger swells. He also, was serious about making our day, to find whales, which he did. We had the 11:30 tour, and were told that the early tour saw around six whales all in close proximity to each other. We did see a number of whales. Also, have to give kudos to the other people who happened to go out that morning, what a wonderful group.
All in all, worth every penny (two hours was perfect vs. others with 3 hrs.) I will definitely go out with this company again the next time I'm close by. Thanks' Frank!

This was my 4th trip with Avila Beach Whale Watching. I believe they offer the best "bang for the buck". Captain Mark always shares his immense knowledge of the marine life we see (14+ seasons here in San Luis Obispo). His experience and confidence on the water always makes me feel safe and confident our trip will be a great experience. Space is limited to 6, so there is always a great view and good people to share the adventure. Here are some highlights of my latest trip!

We went with captain Mark on his vessel, the Pacific Flyer. We were treated to a safe, enjoyable, and knowledgeable tour. He not only knew about the marine wildlife and birds, but about local history too. We had a glimpse of a whale, but also saw otters, harbor seals and pups, sea lions, by the wind sailors, pelicans, and other birds and finished our tour interacting with a pod of dolphins. We laughed as they played so close to us that they looked us in the eye and sprayed us. It was money well spent for this Montana girl. Can’t wait to go again

I don’t even know where to begin …. We were staying in pismo for the weekend enjoying the car show … last weekend I decided to look into whale watching it is something I have wanted to do for a long time … I had been watching the reports and wasn’t sure if I should do it or not .. long story short it was the best decision!! I booked it for my boyfriend and I … 10 whales beautiful calm weather !!!! It was the most amazing experience I have ever had on water !!! Frank !!!! He’s the best so knowledgeable amazing guide !! Absolutely the BEST! So much so that we booked another tour 4 days later. Saw 8-12 whales on these tours. Captain Mark and Captain Frank were very knowledgeable and pleasant. I highly recommend. You will not be disappointed.

Had a great tour with Captain Mark!
Lucky us we got to see two whales on our outing. It was nice to learn some knowledge about the other wildlife out in the ocean as well. Between the wildlife and moments of stillness in the ocean every moment was worth the experience.

Our captain was so knowledgeable and professional, yet played great music on our way back. He was great and the whole experience was more than I could have dreamed of. Many whale sightings. The whales stayed with our parked boat and were really entertaining to watch. This was one of the most exciting experiences of my life. If you ever get the chance, don’t pass it up. These humpbacks are now one of my favorites. A larger than life changing experience.

We had an amazing morning with Avila Beach Whale Watching! Frank our guide was great and very helpful and informative! The boat we went out on was very nice and I liked that they only take six people at a time. We took our grandson and it was his first time ever seeing a whale! He was so excited! We got to see four humpback whales! Thank you Mark and Frank for giving us this great memory with our grandson!
