We typically haven't used travel agents but are very glad we did for a June trip to Switzerland, France and Barcelona. The accommodations were excellent, great locations, views and amenities. Transportation worked perfectly. Swiss Traveling Bell Boy was a marvel. We took two individualized e-bike tours (Lavaux & Marseille), just us and a guide. And two walking food tours (Lucerne & Lyon) Again, just us. We enjoyed all the guides.

The recommendations and descriptions provided were good and quite helpful. The app, Pocket Travel, kept us confident we knew what to do. We never could have done this ourselves.

If you like mountains and lakes, contacted Monika and go to the Swiss Alps. (PS, don't forget to order wonderful weather.)

Avenues of the World was amazing, and I will definitely be booking my next trip with them too! I had the pleasure of working with Maeghan who helped book a trip for me to Tulum, Mexico. As someone who has never traveled before, I wanted to be able to rely on a travel advisor who could set up a dream vacation for me. Not only did Maeghan help plan our trip, but she was communicative and present throughout the entirety of the vacation process. She created an easy-to-follow itinerary that laid out all of the flight information, excursion tickets, and resort reservations that she ALSO planned out for us. Even when things started going south at our resort, she was so diligent in ensuring all of our issues had promptly been resolved. We will be booking again with Avenues of the World!

Avenues of The World has a good rating regarding travel expertise. Given the experiences I had, I question that rating. Below is my experience.
1. Agent was not dependable - didn't return calls, texts or emails timely, if at all.
2. Inconsistencies, untimely and lack of communication from the agent.
3. Agent didn't complete airline reservations properly - resulted in additional expense.
4. Agent lacks attention to detail - itinerary was missing a round trip flight.
5. Agent is not familiar with airline policies.
6. Incomplete hotel information from Agent - hotel was closed; I was not notified.
7. Agent didn't inquire at hotels for perks and additional charges - added charges after the stay.
8. Agent was not truthful - stated information was sent to me that was not sent.

It has always been a dream of mine to travel to Japan & thanks to Judy Ruppert at Avenues of the World, she helped turn my dream trip into something that FAR exceeded my expectations.

This was my first time using a travel agent, and and Judy is the reason I will always be a client for life. There were so many complicated details of this multi-destination trip that would be impossible to coordinate without Judy. Judy was so communicative, extremely knowledgeable, resourceful, and had all the insider tips on traveling to Japan. She listened to exactly what I was looking for in terms of accommodations & tours and really tailored this trip to exceed my expectations. There were many instances where Judy’s service and dedication surpassed your typical travel agent. When booking our flight through Japan Airlines, I personally called Japan Air to get my companion & I seats next to each-other during the 11+ hour flight. This was important to me as I suffer from sever flight anxiety. Even though Japan Airlines stated that seat assignments are only given out 24 hours prior to a flight and side-by-side seats cannot be guaranteed, Judy & her team made a few phone calls and reached out to some of her resources and next thing I know, Japan Airlines honored our seat request! Judy was always thinking one step ahead of us and made recommendations for things I did not even think of! She was able to help with all of our reservations & tours, coordinated all of our ground transportation, and purchased tickets for the bullet train from Tokyo to Kyoto (which was impossible to find tickets online). No matter the time difference, or the language barrier, Judy always made every wish of our a reality. Judy and her team always have the clients best interest in mind and make a stressful trip like this, so enjoyable due to their diligent planning. Before we departed on out trip, we got a very detailed pamphlet with our itinerary with detailed instructions (with pictures) on how to proceed to taking the bullet train, subway system, & public transportation. We would have never been able to have such a memorable trip if it wasn’t for Judy. She goes above and beyond to making all of her clients feel just like family. We are so beyond thankful Judy & everything she did to make this one of the most memorable trips of our life.

Our Alaska vacation was truly amazing. We gave Daniela Harrison a list of things we'd like to do and she constructed a fabulous itinerary chuck full of much more---an awesome action packed two weeks at a very reasonable cost: float planes, boats, helicopters, ski planes, iceberg cruise, first class RR trips, glacier landing with dog-sled ride and with champagne for our 50th as well. You name it we did it. WOW!

From my first contact, or multiple contacts took a week to get back to me. The girl I was first put in contact with was the one that never returned calls till I said something to another girl. The "other girl" called me back and I dropped ball for a few days due to a death of a close friend. They put me back with first girl.....and even after emails and phone calls no response. Maybe if I wouldn't of had who I had things may have been different. But- I won't be back and will make sure people know of the lack of professionalism.
