Sylvia and I thoroughly enjoyed our hiking trip. The accommodations were first rate, food was excellent, and the hiking was arduous but spectacular. Emmanuelle did a good job planning out our hikes on a daily basis despite being relatively new to the area. In addition, he taught us excellent tips on hiking in general that we will take with us in future hikes! All in all, a trip of a lifetime! Ric and Sylvia Arenas

This trip
Was magical. The Dolomites are majestic and now one of our favorite areas to hike. The accommodations were great. Staying at the three Refugio’s was a nice way to experience the mountains. I was impressed with the quality of the Refugio’s. The app was a great tool and helped us navigate. The alpine staff were there for us when we ran into some unexpected challenges.,would definitely use them again.,

My wife and I had been looking to do a hike in the alps. We went to Wengen ten years ago and vowed we would come back to the area in the future. We started looking into our options and we ended up deciding on the self-guided classic Bernese-Oberland traverse offered by Alpinehikers. In our 60’s, we new this would be a challenge but we are both in good shape, trained for a few months by hiking up the stairs at our local park daily and did some longer day hikes on the weekends. The thought of carrying a day-pack and ending up at a quaint chalet or hotel each night with a friendly host, warm meal and comfortable bed was also very appealing. We are not interesting in carrying a 45 pound backpack and setting up camp anymore. So….how did it go? The hiking was spectacular every day. Mountain vistas, alpine meadows, quaint villages and towns and some challenging passes. Did I mention that I need little more cowbell! It has it all and exceeded our expectations in every way. It is clear that the Alpinehikers team has developed long-term relationships with the chalets, hotels owners and staff wherever we stayed. Every place was glad to see us and had charming, spotless, comfortable rooms that exceeded our expectations. The meals were delicious and the staff were attentive and friendly in a Swiss way. We often had incredible views from our bedroom window. Alpinehikers provided great information to prepare us for the trip they a fantastic app for your phones for navigating the route (really good). When we had questions about conditions on parts of our route during our hike, they provided us with updates on the latest conditions in the high passes through email. They were very responsive to all of our questions. For us, the self-guided option was great. It allowed us to make our own decisions the weather, the pass conditions and how to spend our days without any group restrictions. At the end, we hiked over 80 miles and 20,000 vertical feet over 10 days. If you are up an amazing hike with wonderful accommodations with someone you love, consider this route and use Alpinehikers to set up your trip. It’s the trip of a lifetime. You won’t be disappointed.

Alpinehikers is truly top notch. We booked the deluxe TMB package about a year out from our desired travel dates - Troy and his team have been nothing short of top notch. The planning, the communications and details, the accommodations - all have been incredible. We literally just had to show up. Would 100% recommend booking a package through alpinehikers. It would be impossible to plan this excursion without the knowledge and relationships this team has established.

Alpinehikers did a fantastic job of planning a 10 day self-guided tour of the Bernese Oberlands for me and my wife. Our 10 day trek was planned from July 2-11, starting in Meiringen and ending in Gasternal. Initially, we planned to hike every day and stay in a different inn every night. A few months before we started, my wife and I decided we would prefer to have a break in the middle. Troy was able to accommodate this change request by having us stay 3 nights in Murren.

After arriving in Switzerland from the US, we had planned on one night in Zurich and two nights in Zermatt, before going to Meiringen to start the trek. While in Zermatt, I came down with the flu which caused us to miss our first night in Meiringen. After that, we were pretty much on track for the remainder of the trek.

Alpinehikers (Troy) provided us with 90 day access to premium services of Outdoor Active, a great GPS App like All Trails. Troy also provided digital trail maps for each day of our trek, which I downloaded to my iPhone. The maps were very useful as there were areas where we had to make a left, right or change trails which were not clearly marked. This kept us on track and helped us avoid backtracking.

The hotels and mountain inns which Troy booked for us were amazingly good. Our rooms seemed to always have a fantastic view. The food served at the hotels and inns was very good, bordering on Michelin Star quality in some cases. For us, the dinners and breakfasts were all great quality and ample in quantity. We had no problem with lunch food as we usually carried some basic trail snacks (easy to find) or bought something along the way if we came upon a restaurant or store.

All in all, highly recommend Alpinehikers and Troy Haines (the owner) as a solid outfit to choose for planning your alpine adventure. They have all sorts of options and have excellent customer service. Troy and his team are very friendly, easy to work with, and they provide ample opportunities for great outcomes. After the planning, it's all up to you and Mother Nature.

Our Bernese Oberlander tour with Alpinehikers was terrific! The guides are top notch, friendly, informative, and lots of fun. We had a great bunch of folks to hike with and the trails were diverse and challenging and hence a lot of fun. The area itself is gorgeous, a mix of wild, rural, and agricultural life. Many thumbs up!
