Hadn't been back for many years. Delighted to see level of maintenance throughout the gardens now. Nice accommodations for weddings. Charming little cafe with indoor and outdoor seating. The visitor center is attractive and informative and kindly staffed. I'm looking forward to booking lodging in one of the houses on the property to stay longer in this exquisite nature environment.

Beautiful!!! We went in the fall, so we did not see the gardens in bloom, but the park is beautiful in Fall colors!
This was our first time visiting and will not be our last. Walking paths around the gardens and mansion are kept up well. We did some hiking through the trails, very well maintained, and easy to navigate.
The cafe was great. There are lots of options and reasonably priced. We got the pulled pork nachos special and Allerton Tea.

Absolutely beautiful gardens and a great learning experience. I recently took a group of scouts that needed to identify trees and various plants. With well maintained beds and clearly marked plants this was made easy. We also enjoyed a 3 mile hike. The trails are wide, well tended, and for the most part equally acceptable for all. The staff is incredibly friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. We will definitely be back for hikes.

The Allerton Park Holiday Glow event is a must. Food vendors were present, hot coffee, Coco, and food. We enjoyed the fire pits and brisk walk through the decorated path.

This is one of the first Garden Mansions I've visited, and it is absolutely stunning. We've been asked to volunteer here since we visit quite often. They have a website that lists all of their events, and I recommend taking a tour if you can. If you explore the trail outside the garden, be cautious of the many bugs and mosquitoes. We also found it easy to get turned around as there aren't many signs indicating directions.

Love Allerton. The trails, the mansion, the museum, the statues, the staff, the gardens, and the events are all outstanding. We have been many many times and will continue to attend events and to hike the trails. The only thing left for us is to spend a night sometime in the mansion. Allerton is a gem of a place and we're so lucky to have it nearby.

The mansion and stunning gardens of the founder of the Chicago stockyards and Board of Trade are rare finds in the Grand Prairie region of Illinois. Tour the manse and gardens, eat chef-inspired fare, take a folk school class, or stay overnight in one of the converted servant quarters rooms. A true getaway!
