I normally avoid group tours but a friend wanted to go and I found AE Adventure is exclamatory. Scott's diverse and extensive background in guide work is evident. I felt safe as well as entertained with his stories. It is obvious he has done his research in planning our itinerary and knowledge of the area's history, flora, and fauna. I recently went on the trip to the Great Camp Sagamore and was blown away by the peaceful locations and breathtaking views. The historic and luxurious buildings made this "camp" even more of a special trip. We only saw loons on our paddles but did hear owls hooting to each other at one camp fire with smores. Can't wait for my next trip with AE Adventures.

My wife and I have been avid kayakers for many years and have been wanting to paddle the Adirondacks for a long time. We stumbled across AE Adventures and went on the 'Camp Sagamore in the Adirondacks' trip. We could not have been more pleased. A perfect combination of paddling, hiking, historic accommodations, wonderful food, camaraderie, and perfect weather made for a truly memorable trip. I cannot image how it could have been any better. Hats off to Scott and AE Adventures for a job well done and we look forward to more adventures in the future.

Scott chose two wonderful paddles, one being at a launch that was built to be accessible for paddlers with disabling conditions. The food was excellent. Scott designed the paddles with our needs and paddling style in mind.

I highly recommend AE Adventures and Scott. He works very hard to make sure each person is having a good time and is comfortable. If you're trying to decide between an AE Adventure trip and another provider, I think you'll be very happy with AE.
I went on my first multi-day kayak trip with Scott at AE Adventures in the summer of 2005 around the area of Inlet NY. It was my first 'solo' trip without my husband so I was a little nervous and the experience was great. We were a group of 4 or 5 people and had a base lodge where we shared breakfast and got off each morning to a different destination. The first thing we did was get 'fitted' to our kayak and cover basic kayaking skills, safety and determine our abilities. Each morning Scott would brief us on what the plan was for the day, and ask us for input about what we wanted to do. Lunch was always on a deserted little spot where we could swim while Scott put lunch together - always a simple but hearty meal.

I had such great time I booked another trip for spring 2006 in Florida (Crystal River / Homosassa Springs). That trip was a point-to-point multi-day trip and I was the only female in the group. Scott was cognizant of the special challenges that that sometimes entailed and made sure I was comfortable at all times. We stayed in rustic cabins along the coast that each had it's own charm; we shared breakfast and dinner at restaurants on-site. The Florida trip gave me one of the highlights of my life! - While everyone else was looking for alligators sunning themselves (we didn't see any) I spotted a bear(!) on one of the little sandy islands! Everyone else got to see it too. So exciting! We also saw manatees in the Crystal River. All in all, each trip I went on with Scott at AE Adventures was terrific. I've always wanted to do another! I highly recommend AE Adventures and Scott. He works very hard to make sure each person is having a good time and is comfortable.

We had an amazing time with AE Adventures kayaking the Guna Yala off the coast of Panama. A great mix of interesting culture, wonderful kayaking from island to island, camping, good food prepared by local folks and excellent guiding from Scott, Matias and the Guna guides.

Scott curates the trips in every detail - lodging, dining, diet needs, varied paddling experiences in each trip.

He was super helpful in advance of the trip, too, in answering questions.

Further, he happily & knowledgeably answers questions about the flora, fauna, typography and local history.

He finds local partners who also share their love of place.

He's also happy to create custom trips. He's a fine conversationalist without being intrusive in the least.

And the fellow travelers are like minded folk who create a fun atmosphere.

This trip will take you off the beaten path into a Costa Rica more familiar to the locals. Scott and Vince are accomplished guides and good company. The kayaking was fairly easy, up to 3 hours on each of five days, the food was simple and good, our Costa Rican hosts were delightful, and the jungle was just what we needed for our winter vacation. A variety of venues and activities (including siestas) filled our afternoons, and evenings were spent learning about the local flora and fauna and relaxing with our group in a comfortable outdoor meeting area or on our own in our cabins. We recommend this trip for moderately hardy folks open to living without air conditioning and with the occasional critter visiting your cabin. We loved it!

We've had the pleasure of being guests on three different AE Adventures tours in NY State. Each has been unique, offered fun kayaking, and the service was personal. The equipment and support are outstanding. It would be hard to find a more satisfying kayaking tour host than Scott. He plans great trips, offers great support, and attracts nice, interesting people as guests. Can't recommend AE Adventures more highly!
