Hugely disappointed, ordered magadan panniers with many extras. Dry bags had 15% off if purchased at same time. They were out of stock. I enquired when they would be back in stock and was told many months. Asked to be told when they came in. Nothing ! Now I see they arrive back in stock and they won't honour the offer. Nearly £10 postage on two dry bags your having a laugh.

A few days before Christmas 2023 I received a package from Adventure-Spec. This was my first purchase from ta company that I’de heard good things about. It was a pair of “Singletrack Pants” that I’d ordered… Not having a great amount of time at that point, I tried them on quickly and then had to put them aside ready for the 27th December. I was going to wear them on “The Great Christmas Escape”, a charity trail ride over Salisbury Plain, because the forecast was for weather that would be wetter than a coypu’s cod-piece!

When I’m riding, I wear protective gear - at 64 years old, I think I’m more “breakable” than I used to be, so over the past couple of years, I’ve invested in some pretty heavy gauge armour. Thick “impact pants”, Pod Knee Braces & “Tech10” boots...
These take a bit of covering and that’s why I’d been awaiting the 'Adventure Spec Singletrack Pants'.

I had ordered these a week or two before they were due back in stock (to my mind, when something is as popular as these are - it means they are GOOD) and the day after the given “expected” date, I got a dispatch notification. Then, almost immediately, the first of several updates from the carrier.

The package arrived the next day and I will say that it was more robust than many parcels I’ve received with bike gear in, so I felt assured that my purchase would be in good order when I opened it.

First look at the pants confirmed this as well as being able to see that the construction was very impressive. Once I’d put my armour on I immediately realised that the fit was spot on too. Other pants I’ve tried/used were a bit fiddly to get over the knee braces and always felt as if they were “pulling” the braces. Also, some other kit I’ve found has been a bit tight over my thighs and backside… The Singletrack Pants aren’t. The fit was great and getting them on was really easy.

The pants come with braces attached which will suit some. I prefer riding without them though. They are easily detached, as they are fitted with hook & loop fastenings (“velcro”).
They have a flap over lower leg that is also secured with the same hook & loop fastening. This allows the pant to be opened wide when putting on even the biggest boots (I take a size 48!) and, as I found out from being a bit of a dipstick, even when I’d put my inner boots on before the pants, I was then still able to get the pants over those!
Outer boots then went on and the flap-over lower legs wrapped well around the boots. There is then a double-adjustable plastic side-release snap buckle to secure the pant. This is a little bit fiddly to adjust so that the pant is snug around the boot, but it only needs the done once.

So how were the Singletrack Pants in use?
Dry! Actually… “Dry AND warm”!

The weather in Wiltshire on the 27th December was awful! it was chucking it down and the wind was howling! My upper body was soaking wet and quite cold - because Adventure Spec had sold out of the size/colour of SingleTrack jacket that I wanted and I wasn’t able to get it in time for Christmas, so I only had my old military issue camouflaged goretex jacket - which now leaks.

My lower body though was warm & dry and it stayed that way - even though we went splashing through the Salisbury Plain “Whoops” section (Those that know…) at 20-30MPH
The pants, I presume because of the “over-the-boot” design that can be made quite “ snug”, even seemed to stop a lot of the water entering my boots (whilst my boots are supremely protective, “waterproof” they ain’t!) but as I say, the pants seem to have helped that.

So my first use of these pants was over 100 miles of extremely wet & muddy terrain. We went through some fairly heavy undergrowth with brambles and blackthorns. The Singletrack Pants shrugged it all off without a problem.

Would I recommend any other trail-riders to buy these pants? Absolutely!

I’ve just got to wait for the next batch of Singletrack Jackets to arrive in my colour/size combination and I’ll be ordering one!

I have never written a bad review of a company, but I had to here. Appalling level of service, which is a shame as their clothes are good. Never received such a rude response to an email asking for an update on my refund. They also cancelled another outstanding order of mine without me asking, as they didn't want anything to do with me again. Pure rudeness, unbelievable, never dealt with anyone like this, ever.

I bought Mongolia Trousers [over the boot] Paired with Mongolia jacket as I was riding in Mongolia [what else would you buy]. Down through the south, into the Gobi Desert. Through the Mongolian Central steep grass lands, through the high mountains up to Russian border. A twelve day 2000k trip and wanted something that would suit all. It did the job brilliantly. Keeping me cool in the 40C + of the Gobi warm, with the addition of a light waterproof in the mountains. Great protection when I had a blow out at high speed in the front on the hardpack gravel and went flying over the bars.

The company has come a long way since I initially reviewed. Products retain the same great quality they always have, but now the service you receive also represents strong value. I'm using their mk3 Magadans as well as the mini fairing for a UK - Cape Town trip currently, despite a pretty good crash in Nigeria everything is holding up great. Good products and good service make Adventure Spec a pleasure to deal with.
