I loved the tour conducted by Dr. Sarah. I was there in March of 2020. I have been on that glacier before but not on a tour so it was nice to get the formal introduction to the mechanics of the glacier and the tour by Dr. Sarah was stunning. You are up close and personal with ancient ice and I felt very safe.

Dr. Sarah’s tour of the Matanuska Glacier was actually more than 5-stars! She is very knowledgeable, and answered our questions by citing the most recent scientific literature. But she is also relaxed and able to safely support a fun time on the glacier for all tour participants. We can’t thank her enough for a wonderful experience for our whole family, especially our 16-year-old son who picked this experience as his Christmas gift.

Dr. Sarah's Matanuska glacier tour was incredible!!! After a short walk across the frozen lake we were right at the end of the glacier and got to touch all of the gorgeous ice formations and go into little caves. Dr. Sarah was so knowledgeable and answered all of our questions, no matter how random or silly. She also patiently waited for our group to take pictures. Safety was her first priority and we really appreciated her care.

Dr .Sarah was wonderful and warm but more importantly full of insight and knowledge about glaciers. (PHD and all) Did you know she worked with NASA helping them to coordinate imaging to track glacier health! Very cool! We went in March and it felt like we were on an expedition! Highly recommend going with her! Thanks Dr.Sarah 🙂

I booked a tour with Dr. Sarah last minute, and she was able to add me to another group for a tour the following day. Due to unfortunate events, the other party was not able to make it. Dr. Sarah still took me out (It was just me), and was able to share with me her incredible knowledge of glaciers and adventures in Alaska. It was such a treat to tour with someone so professional and also down to earth. She shared with me the beauty of Matanuska glacier up close, which was an experience that nobody should miss when coming to Alaska.

I would highly recommend going this tour with Dr Sarah! She gave us detailed information about the formation of the suncups and about the depth of water/ice/glacier underneath our feet. She led the way and also cleaned up some snow so people coming after do that accidentally step on and fall from the shallow snow. We enjoyed a good time there and the glacier itself also looked like from a whole different world!
