Today we spent a relaxed and cool day at Amboy with a super nice motorbike rented by Desert Moto Rentals. The guys there were super friendly and kind. They also answered all our questions around the bike or the areas where to ride. The bike was fantastic to ride and it was so much fun. I only can recommend the guys from Desert Moto Rentals as well as the Royal Enfield. Visit them and make your own experience, and enjoy a full day of fun. Definitely worth it.

Phenomenal rental company. I took a Moto Guzzi V7 on a 250mi ride around Anza Borrego. The bike was well maintained, they were flexible and communicative, and I loved chatting with the owners and mechanic. I hope I can come back for an ADV tour some time.

This motorcycle tour had it all. Desert highways, canyon twisties and a magnificent bike. If you want to rent a motorcycle in California go to this honest friendly place.

Rented a couple of Enfield Himalayans and rode Berdoo canyon road into Joshua Tree. Prob one of the best days riding I have had in 25 years of riding. Will be back to try out some other bikes on different routes if the opportunity presents itself. Heidi and George are great and the free gear to borrow is perfect for travelers.

I booked a one on one guided motorcycle tour through Desert Moto Rentals and had a amazing time! My guide Adam was extremely knowledgable about the area and a did a great job putting together our ~175 mile route. He let me set the pace and I never felt out of my comfort zone. I loved every mile of twisty roads though the Joshua Tree National Park!

I highly recommend taking a guided tour with Desert Moto Rentals, I will be back for sure!

George & Heide were super-friendly and accommodating! Even on short notice, the booking went smoothly and was ready for us when we arrived. The jackets and gloves fit well and did the job. The rental process was superior, and the ride up into Julian and back down was FANTASTIC! GREAT experience! Thank you!

Spent some vacation time last week in California with my son and stopped into Desert Moto. What a fantastic find - lots of great bikes to choose from. George and Heidi were terrific hosts and extremely knowledgeable and helpful.
We rented a HD Sportster 1200T and a Moto Guzzi V7 Stone and rode out to Joshua Tree. The bikes were well maintained and performed really well. Look forward to another trip in January.

Desert Moto is an excellent place to rent a bike in Palm Desert. The shop is pristine with dozens of cool bikes to choose from. The owner and staff really know their bikes and maintain them well. Riding gear is offered at no charge as well.

I rented the BMW 1200GS for the day. Suggested route was up 74/243 to Idyllwild.

For a full day rental, I’d recommend north on 74/243 all the way to Banning. Twisties and straights that can get you to illegal speeds along the way. A good opportunity to really get comfortable with the bike and terrain. Have lunch somewhere in Banning and head back south on 243.

Stop at any overlooks when you need a break.

About 3 miles south of Mountain Center (where you get back on 74) look for Apple Canyon Rd on the left. This is a nice short ride into the canyon and back.

Continue south 1.7 miles on 74 to Thomas Mountain Rd. Turn right onto this fire road and follow it 15 miles to Hop Patch
Spring Rd, then right on Pyramid Peak Rd and back to 74. This is a moderate fire trail that has outstanding views and great trail riding features. I was out there on a Thursday and saw only one other vehicle. I had cell service the entire way, and figured if the going got too difficult, I could just turn around. Made it the full way without difficulty (I’m from Florida with virtually no mountain trail riding experience).

When you get back to 74, turn right to return to Palm Desert.

This day was the highlight of my trip to California. I will definitely book another bike when I come back.
