Maya Sailing Adventures - Morro Bay, California

My girlfriend and I had an amazing time sailing around Morro Bay. We spent one night aboard the Maya and it was truly magical. Captain Terry picked us up and surprised us with a private whale watching trip. We followed a mother humpback whale and her pup for about 45 min. The whales came within 20 yards of the boat and put on a little show for us. Even without the whales the views from the boat were breathtaking. The swaying of the ocean under us was hypnotizing and relaxing. After that we went back into the harbor and grabbed some clam chowder to go. We watched the sunset from the deck of the Maya. Then we relaxed ate and drank wine, talking with Terry about his interesting adventures. We spent the night in a cozy bed at the bow of the boat. The fresh cool ocean air wafting in from the windows. The best sleep I have ever had. Then in the morning Terry made us breakfast and we watched a sea lion swimming by in the calm morning water. We then took a dingy over to the Morro Bay sandspit and my girlfriend and I hiked through the sand dunes to the ocean side where we had a private secluded beach. It was glorious and there were hundreds of sand dollars all around as well as a plethora of bird species.

The boat is absolutely gorgeous. A true work of art on the outside and the inside. It is spacious yet cozy and the wood interior provides a sense of peace and relaxation.

Terry is an amazing person and captain. He is knowledgeable, trustworthy and mild mannered. He is very easy going and has a wonderful energy about him. He has many great stories as well as insights on life. A true renaissance man.

Out of all of travel experiences that are out there, this sailing adventure is truly one of a kind. We were only on the boat for about 24 hours, but it seemed like a week of bliss. A true escape from the city and the stresses of life. I'd highly highly HIGHLY recommend taking a trip with Terry on the Maya!!

Maya Sailing Adventures was a fantastic experience. Captain Terry was very accommodating. We sailed around the bay, braves some choppy waters outside of the bay, and then hung out in the bay with a picturesque back drop of morro rock. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience!
