We had an absolutely fantastic experience as a family on the private half-day lunch tour. I wanted to do something special for my birthday, and this did not disappoint! I wasn’t really sure what to expect on a guided tour as we have a decent amount of flatwater kayak experience, but the tour was completely worth it! John was incredibly knowledgeable about the area, kept the kids actively engaged the whole time, and we loved learning about the animals of the bay. We were lucky enough to see what felt like at least half of the 70 resident otters of the bay, lots of sea lions piled on the floating dock, a handful of seals, and an incredible amount of birds. He also knew exactly where to paddle to optimize wind and currents. Lunch on the dunes was amazing. Our guide was so attentive to every detail, adults and kids were more than happy with a fantastic meal. And at the end of the trip, John was happy to stay a little later and share some artifacts from the bay with the kids. His love for the bay and guiding made our day even more special. Definitely a birthday to remember! Highly recommend the tour to anyone considering it!

Our "Half Day Classic" kayaking tour with Central Coast Outdoors in Morro Bay was absolutely fantastic! We were a group of four in two tandem kayaks and lucked out with a private tour as the day was quiet.

Our guide, John, was incredibly knowledgeable about the bay and its wildlife. He shared so many interesting facts about the otters, seals, and birds we saw, making the stunning scenery even more engaging.

The customer service was truly world-class from start to finish. After the tour, John even followed up with more information about some of the the otters behavior we'd seen and been curious about – a really impressive touch.

The whole experience is low intensity, so most should be fine taking part with lots of breaks along the bay to observe the huge amount of wildlife that call the bay home! Just wear some swim shorts / or something you're happy with getting splashed a small amount and some shoes that are fine again for splashes and a 20 minute walk on sand. There are loads of photo opportunities, so taking your phone would be a good idea, just make sure you secure it with a strap if you're afraid of dropping it but the water is calm and should be fine without too.

I would 100% recommend booking an experience with Central Coast Outdoors for an unforgettable Morro Bay experience. Great wildlife, a brilliant guide, and top-notch service! They know what they're doing and you'll have a fantastic time!

My friend and I did the half day classic kayaking trip and it was amazing. Virginia was a very knowledgeable guide. She shared information about the local wildlife and the whole Morro Bay Area. I highly recommend this trip if you love the outdoors!

John was a great tour guide! We booked a kayak tour around the bay. John was very knowledgeable about the wild life and natural habits we paddled by. John was great about protecting the animals and keeping us a safe distance to learn about them and enjoy watching them in their home. After the tour, John shared a great local hike for us to enjoy. We did the Half Day Classic and loved it! We were very comfortable and well looked after -- specially appreciated the blankets and our guide lending us binoculars 🙂 Speaking of guide, our guide, Jen, was amazing! She kept the tour fun but also so educational. It was clear how much she knew about Morro Bay, the community and the wildlife, and it was just lovely listening and learning from her as we rowed away. We saw a multitude of birds, crabs, anemone, mollusks, and of course, plenty of otters! 🦦

I had a 3-hour private tour ( including a hike across the spit) with Craig. It was very enjoyable. The weather and water were perfect. Craig was an absolute delight. He has clearly made himself very knowledgable about the land, wildlife, and waters of the area. Conversing with Craig was worth the additional price of a private tour. The kayak was also just right, very comfortable seat, and easily adjustable, working footrests. The waterproof blanket was a nice touch.

We did a half day kayaking tour of Morro Bay and had such a great experience. Our guide, Ocean Mike, was wonderful and very knowledgeable about the bay. He was eager to answer any questions and you could tell he enjoys giving the tours. Highly recommend and would definitely book with them again.
