I went with some friends from out of state who love doing ghost tours and activities of that nature. They found the company and invited me and my husband to come along (we were a group of 5 plus another family of 4). I'd never been despite living in Austin for almost 20 years. I have to say the entire experience was absolutely wonderful. We were super fortunate to have Monica as our tour guide. Her passion for the stories and their importance came through. Her sense of humor was delightful. I'm a skeptic and she made me want to believe and enjoy every second of the experience. Monica shared she'd been doing these tours for years and it shows. Her experience level is clear. She knows how to make the tours fun and how to keep her audience engaged and intrigued. I even learned the importance of the difference between the phrases "ghost hunting" and "paranormal investigations" as the former suggests the spirits are game, targets, and as such is disrespectful to the departed. I got goosebumps several times on the tour. Had a blast. Thank you, Monica, for a wonderful time. Thank you Austin Ghost Tours! Keep up the good work!

This is the tour to choose, folks! The google search results can be a bit confusing, but this is the original Austin Ghost Tour that is well worth it!

Went on this tour back in November with my family! Robin was our guide and they were a blast of a tour guide! Great about answering questions, and had a lot of knowledge, stories, and fun encounters to share with us! We got a whole new perspective on downtown Austin and an appreciation for the history that makes up the area. I recently moved to the area and this gave me a desire to explore more, I'm sure we'll go on one of the ghost tours again!

This tour incorporates real history and true stories that the company works to verify. They also do investigations themselves! We got a lot of great information, fun facts, and some wonderful memories!

We booked a ghost tour for a bachelorette party and had SUCH a good time. Monica was great. She tailored the tour to include some bridal themed ghosts and we got to use some cool ghost detecting equipment on the tour. Would definitely recommend.

I went on a tour a while back with John “Madman” Maverick as our guide, and it was fantastic! I highly recommend this company. They are locals, have thorough knowledge of the history, and are incredibly engaging story tellers. They are the real deal!

I’m finally writing a review after so much time to support this local business, after we got scammed by a competing business tonight. I hope this review helps prevent others from falling victim to imposters.

There are several other (non-local) ghost tour companies that pose as this company, use their name in seo and third party travel sites, or otherwise confuse customers enough that it is now a common scam. Unfortunately, my group got scammed tonight when an out-of-town family member thought they were booking the Original Austin Ghost Tours, but it ended up being a poser company (U.S. Ghost Adventures, we found out). The poser company gave a horribly lackluster tour. Like, it was so utterly awkward, I thought we were being pranked.

In reading the lowest reviews for the Original Austin Ghost Tours, it became clear this has happened to a lot of people — they thought they had booked with The Original Austin Ghost Tours, they had a horrible experience, and left a bad review thinking it was them. It is so unfair that this local business’ name is getting dragged because of shady competing companies.

Moral of the story is: don’t use third party travel sites to book tours. Make sure you only book directly through their own website (austinghosttours.com), and you will have a great time!

This was a great tour, my wife and I loved hearing the stories and histories of some of our favorite places in Austin. Monica was excellent, and having done ghost tours in multiple other cities my wife and I agreed that her tour was the best.

Words cannot describe how awesome this tour was. Monica was so knowledgeable and gave us the *truth* about many Austin hauntings and histories. We had such a good time. I'd definitely go back again in the hopes I can see Thomas or maybe even Ruth! I can't wait to read Monica's book and learn even more. 10/10 LOVED IT!

My boyfriend and I just finished a tour with Maverick and it was amazing. Not only did he give amazing stories, he also gave us facts. He was so knowledgeable about the area and even though our group was large he took the time to give everyone options on how our tour could go. We will definitely be back for another tour again!
