Looked like there was extensive renovations going on, the check in was “face-less”, our key was taped to the front door with instructions to go to the back of the hotel and enter a code to find our room. The room was very IKEA-esque, with many features like the tables and light fixtures like something you would find at Target— which, nothing wrong with that (per se) but it doesn’t match the character of the main inn entrance. Felt like we were overcharged for the type of charm and history that we were expecting out of the room.

We had our wedding reception here and it was truly amazing! I could not have asked for a more perfect staff and venue. The staff went above and beyond the whole week (and months prior). Our guests loved the tunnel tours and all the venue had to offer. We even had the bridal shower and rehearsal dinner there. Nina was phenomenal and Tyler had big shoes to fill when she fell sick the day before but everything went flawlessly. We could not have picked a better place to have the best day of our lives.

The Hartness house is not only an amazing little Inn in the woods of Springfield, but it is absolutely PACKED full of history! Tyler was amazing and gave us a tour of the secrets of Hartness House! Ask about the museum and the speakeasy. It is an absolutely beautiful property. Thanks again Tyler!

The Hartness House is a charming and quaint property taking you back in time with all of the modern amenities to make you comfortable. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay wonderful. A sincere thank you to Nina who helped with surprise birthday decorations and a few extra accommodations to make a happy birthday even more special. We enjoyed our short stay and would love to visit again!

Rooms are comfortable, but there is no ice machine or any kind of regular amenities that you’d have at a normal hotel. It’s just a room with and AC and a bathroom and a TV with no cable. The WiFi is ok and the staff are attentive but you have to go through a call service to even get a staff member to come by. That being said, if you need something they show up to your door eventually with a friendly smile and bring you toilet paper or whatever. We were the only ones staying in the entire complex where we were there though, and it was eerily empty.

Excellent stay! The property is meticulously maintained. We loved the ease of check in and check out. The mansion is beautiful. We stayed in the adjoining hotel and loved that we could walk through and explore and sit in the mansion. There were snacks and waters thoughtfully left for guests. The instructions for check in and check out were not only provided multiple times prior to stay via email, but also left for us upon arrival to ensure ease of check in. We LOVED this gem and would definitely stay here again!

We stayed at the property as part of an onsite family celebration. This is definitely a destination hotel, and it is soaked with history and charm. We stayed in one of the modern rooms at the back of the hotel (versus staying in one of the suites in the main mansion). Clean, efficient, great mattress, excellent a/c, etc. Without a doubt, the absolute high point of our stay was being taken on a free guided tour of the hidden tunnels built under the mansion and visiting the telescope museum. The hotel manager, Nina, was a delight and did everything she could to make us welcome and comfortable. Overall, it was a nice stay but we wish the hotel had an onsite restaurant as it would have made enjoying the grandeur of the property even more special.

I had a great stay at the Hartness House. The room was clean and uncluttered. The bar was decorated so nicely and the bartender was great. Coffee and pastries were set out in the morning. The restaurant wasn't open when we were there, but hopefully, it will be open next time.
