Not a lot of chain choices in the area.

Great staff. The bartender at the adjoining bar/restaurant was awesome (the front desk and housekeeping also rock).

Hotel was clean with comfortable beds. The hot tub was nice, along with good breakfast with decent on the go items, and a hot chocolate bar in the lobby for the holidays.

Very cool architecture, but none of the ghosts I read about. Beautiful postcard setting--I can only imagine the weddings here are picturesque.

Note: They add a refundable $1 per night housekeeping gratuity on the bill. I actually like this since I sometimes forget ones, and the chains are now reducing service to every other day.

A warm & classy boutique hotel converted from a former vacant old mill building. The lobby was warm & cozy, front desk was friendly and the room was very comfortable. A wonderful restaurant is connected to the building, but be sure to make a reservation ahead of time. The building is right by the river with a pedestrian bride along with a scenic view of the waterfall of the dam. It was a surprise find during our fall foliage trip. Highly recommended

Stayed here for my sister's wedding. The hotel is very nice and comfortable. Amy at the front desk was extremely nice and welcoming. One of the nicest and most helpful front desk lady's I've ever experienced at a hotel. From helping us with some things on our suits to even offering to get my mother something to eat since she hadn't eaten that morning. She went above and beyond to ensure our experience was a great one! The Common Man is lucky to have her working there.

Review of The Common Man Inn & Restaurant – Claremont, NH

Our stay at The Common Man Inn in Claremont, NH, was nothing short of incredible. The phenomenal rooms were spacious, well-appointed, and full of character, but the river view rooms took it to another level. Waking up to the peaceful sight and sound of the Sugar River just outside our window made the stay even more special.

The inn itself is housed in a beautifully restored and renovated historic mill, blending rustic charm with modern comfort. After a long day of skiing at Okemo or Sunapee—just a quick 20-minute drive away—the hot tub was a welcome retreat. It was clean, inviting, and the perfect way to relax and soothe sore muscles.

We also loved the continental breakfast, which was a step above the typical hotel fare. Everything was fresh, and the selection was perfect for fueling up before another day on the slopes or exploring the area.

As for the Common Man Restaurant, the food was so good we went two nights in a row. The cozy ambiance, excellent service, and delicious dishes—from hearty comfort food to perfectly cooked steaks—made it an easy choice. The flavors were spot-on, and every bite felt like classic New England hospitality on a plate.

Between the stunning river views, warm hospitality, fantastic food, and great amenities, The Common Man Inn & Restaurant in Claremont is an absolute gem. Whether you’re planning a ski trip, a weekend getaway, or just looking for an excellent meal, this place delivers on all fronts. We’ll definitely be back!

So many beautiful details at this hotel. The rooms have comfy beds, nice art, comfortable arm chairs. The hot tub is gorgeous with wood panel walls and an immaculately clean mirror, with a shower in the corner to rinse off before and after. The lobby is charmingly rustic with lots of variety in available seating for breakfast, and if you're lucky the lobby cat will come and say hello. The bagels at breakfast were some of the best I've had in years. The restaurant downstairs is also terrific, with a crackers and cheese bar for appetizers and lots of variety in the menu. All in all, very much recommend this place!!

We had the most delightful stay at The Common Man Inn in Claremont, NH, during our New England leaf-peeping adventure. Housed in a charming old textile mill, the inn offers a perfect blend of history and modern comfort. The transformation of the mill into this lovely inn was impressive, with beautifully maintained features that add character to the space.

Our room was cozy and comfortable, with a bed that felt like a dream after a long day of travel. The hand soap in the bathroom smelled wonderful, a small but thoughtful touch that made us feel extra pampered. We were greeted warmly by Naimke, who made us feel right at home, and the adorable inn cat, Claire, added a special, personal touch to the experience. It was such a nice surprise to find that the inn offers warm apple cider in the lobby—a perfect treat after a chilly autumn day!

Out of all the places we stayed on our New England trip, this was by far the best experience. The staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. If you're looking for a great place for dinner, don't miss the attached Common Man restaurant. The food was absolutely fantastic—comforting, hearty, and exactly what we needed after a day of sightseeing.

We’ll definitely be returning to The Common Man Inn next time we’re in the area. It’s a hidden gem, and we couldn’t have asked for a better stop on our journey. Highly recommend!

A very nice place to stay. The hotel converted from a textile mill. It has a rustic feel but everything is new inside. The rooms have high ceiling and are super clean, the lobby is very welcoming. breakfast is good.
Staff if very friendly and accommodating.
We had to find this place because the lodge we booked had a 8pm checkin cutoff but staff answered my call and was available to check even at 11:30pm. There is nothing Common in this place it’s very special 😀

I Spend a lot of holidays here. The common man in its staff always makes me and my companion animal very comfortable. Would highly recommend. Claremont has a lot to offer if you look for it!
