One of the best dive experiences I've had, and it was solely due to Matt and the team at Tahoe Dive Center. Went on a 2 tank dive with Matt. He was by far one of the most attentive and knowledgeable instructors I've dove with. Matt's attention to detail, safety conscious attitude / awareness, and familiarity of the local dive sites, made this a premium dive experience. I would dive with Matt again anytime, anywhere!

I recently booked a dive tour to Sand Harbor beach. I could not dive one of the deeper wreck dives offered around Emerald bay, but I must say this dive was fantastic and fun too. There were 3 divers who took the tour each of us with different skill levels. I was so impressed with the care that the dive masters and proprietor took for each individual. I've dove with Tahoe Dive Center before and will dive with them again & again. Thanks!

I took the Advanced Adventuer Course. My objective was to gain more knowledge, experience and to try different skills in diving. What I got was much more. My instructor, Scuba Luba, was exceptional. She was professional and attentive to my inexperience and helped me by instructing & assisting me through each activity that I chose. She never made me do anything that I was not comfortable with. The final result was that I had so much FUN!!!

UPDATE 8/15/24: The shop has rectified their mistake by updating information that was incorrect on the site. Looks great now!

First the pros - We had a great dive with the team! We did a charter and the tanks were filled properly to 3000 psi. The equipment we could rent from them was some of the best rentals I've used. We originally scheduled a shore dive, but were contacted a few days before since a charter opened up. There were some great perks upgrading to the charter. Beyond the breakfast and snacks provided, it was awesome showing up on our dive day and having everything on the boat already set up for us. The boat was clean and captain was great. Diving Lake Tahoe is expensive, so if you're going to do it I'd highly suggest the charter. Visibility was great, and Paul did a great job making sure everyone during the dive was comfortable, especially when dealing with the thermocline. He did a great job checking in with everyone, and felt we were in good hands.

OLD CONS (Prior to shop's edit; no longer a concern) - Communication with this dive shop was difficult. It took 18 emails over the course of a month to get a dive scheduled, but once we got connected with a gentleman named Paul he got us taken care of very quickly! We confirmed rentals were available in our email communications, and were asked to show up before our charter to get fitted.

Upon arriving, a huge problem came up. They don't actually rent out "Mask / Snorkel / Fins / Booties / Gloves" for $30/day despite what their website says. According to the person checking us out, the dive shop "never did" rent these out. When I showed the shop it was live on their website, they seemed confused but claimed there was nothing they could do. Since there are no dive shops in the area, this forced my friend to drop $200 on the only pair of fins that fit him. This was especially frustrating, since he owns fins but didn't bring them since he flew.

My wife and I showed up with the gear we needed, but feel like we narrowly missed a trap. It put my friend in a tough spot, and had my wife and I not come prepared, the three of us would've been in a position to either forfeit the $1200 we spent on the charter, or spend an additional ~$1000 on gear.

UPDATE 8/15/24 - The shop did update their website to reflect that these items must be brought or purchased at the shop. Thanks team! Updated my review to 4 stars.

Scheduled a dive with this group over the phone leading up to a family trip to the King's beach area and they were very accommodating. Originally the dive was planned to be for myself, another, and the dive guide but the other individual dropped out last minute. The dive guide was kind enough to go ahead with the dive and to make some last minute pivots in order to ensure there were filled tanks available for the dive despite the shops compressor going down. Did a two tank dive at Sand Harbor and it was absolutely gorgeous! Definitely have to get to the site early to get a parking spot but well worth it and dive guide gave proper warning about the parking situation. We did a shallow dive to explore the cove rock formations and then did a deeper drop on the second dive to try and view the thermoclines. Certainly had a great experience!!

As a semi-experienced diver (50 dives), I was blown away at the professionalism of the instructor Steve Lind. I obtained an ‘Altitude Diving’ certification and had the pleasure of joining his group of Open Water students. Steve was the most informative teacher I have seen and learned a ton from his class. It’s refreshing to see someone genuinely enjoy teaching and having such a passion for diving. Thank you Steve for the life memory!

I decided at short notice to go diving at Lake Tahoe. When I asked at the diving center, Paul immediately agreed to go diving with me the next day. we met at Sand Harbor at 6:30am. That was the right time, the line of cars was already long. We briefly discussed the dive, put on our equipment and off we went. Paul helped me a lot because I hadn't had that many dives yet. Underwater always asked me if I was OK, which gave me a very confident impression. Diving in the lake and with Paul was a lot of fun and very professional. We did a total of two dives. Many thanks to Paul, who did a really great job.

A bit confused about this place and their offerings. First of all they are impossible to get in contact with. No response to emails or to calls, and voicemail box always full.
We did finally catch them when someone picked the phone up, but despite advertising a “try SSI course” that lists “No Certification Needed: No prior experience required – just curiosity and a sense of adventure!”, we were told this was for certified divers only, and certification would take ~4 days in the pool (no lake dive).
Feel like the site just needs to be updated? We had a group really excited about trying out diving in the lake but are just left frustrated by this whole experience of trying to book, and the listing not matching up to what the employee told us.
Probably fine for rentals and if you already know what you’re doing, but definitely not what the website claims!
