This is a great stay! Beautiful building inside and out. Inside is incredible but also really comfortable. You could hold a fancy party or relax on the incredibly comfortable couches.

It's a 6 minute walk to the downtown area that is really cute but not a lot going on. If that changes, this location is going to be booked every night Thursday through Sunday so get here now while it's still a hidden gem of a place.

Absolutely gorgeous! The pictures do not do it justice. This bed and breakfast is very unique! Formerly a church, now a small, quiet, beautiful bed and breakfast. The woodworking is magnificent. It's fun to imagine how the church was laid out and see how it has been adapted to a wonderful place to stay. The decor throughout compliments the majestic building. A continental breakfast is self-serve with items left in the kitchen for you to help yourself. The rooms are immaculate. There is a balcony to sit outside and relax. It was enjoyable to read about the history and see some of the renovation pictures. Great hosts! Definitely recommend!

This is the best B&B I’ve stayed at! Very clean & furnished comfortably. The bed was very comfortable & nice antique’s particularly loved the long church pew and vintage quilts. The stained glass windows throughout are beautiful. It was quiet & warm. Karen was friendly & accommodating. I’d give it 6 stars.

We were very impressed with the McGrady Inn ... It is a very unique One-Of-A-Kind B&B!|The owner is extremely helpful, the whole facility is amazingly clean, and we enjoyed our stay. The old section of Charleston does not have much to offer, but the Eastern University area just 7 blocks away is very active.

Former church, beautifully redone as a bed and breakfast. The owners met me at checkin and even carried my bag up the stairs for me. There are fruit and muffins available in the kitchen, and the refrigerator was well stocked with water, orange juice, and yogurt. The refrigerator/freezer is accessible to guests in the kitchen common area, and there’s a microwave there as well. McGrady Inn features large open common areas and beautiful architecture with stained glass windows. There are big screen TVs in common areas as well as in the room, which was spacious and had a nice desk area for working. Nice large bathroom. Will definitely stay here again. Please note that the vintage architecture is not handicapped accessible, but if you’re able to ascend some stairs, it’s a great option and reasonably priced.

This is an early 1900s church that has been wonderfully renovated. The rooms are very clean and comfortable and the bathrooms are huge. We rented the two upstairs rooms which are only accessible by stairs. There are two very nice lounging areas, one on the first floor and one on the second floor. Coffee, tea, and muffins are provided in the morning. Karen, the host, was most gracious and clearly communicated all necessary instructions. We loved our stay here and would gladly return.

I have stayed at the McGrady Inn about a half dozen times. I went to college at Eastern Illinois University, and still have friends in Charleston, Illinois, so I stay at the Inn when I visit them. It's hard to describe just how lovely this place is, and how nice and helpful the owners Karen and Adam are. The location is great-- about a five minute walk to the town square, and about a ten minute walk to the campus, and the price is not much more than a motel would cost me. I always look forward to my stays there.

Easy check in, great location and clean. Love the atmosphere and the host is very responsive. This was our third visit. We always stay here for EIU Family Weekend. It is in walking distance to everything we need to do and is decorated for the season. We also appreciate and enjoy the fruit, milk, muffins and yogurt left for guests in the kitchen.
