Just spoke with Jonica. She was so great; gave me resource info from their database, explained what sort of licensing I should look for in the state of FL, and answered questions about other resources I'd found on my own. I did not feel rushed through our call. Don't know yet if any of these suggestions will pan out, but my initial call to them was good.

The VA should find a better company to handle its VDC program. They take a large amount of money from the veteran budget to do a few payroll checks that take very little time to do every other week. VERY SLOW to get things done when the veteran needs to hire a new person and with the exception of one man there, very slow to respond to things. Veteran not notified of personell changes when their counselor quits and it seems like there is alot of internal inefficiency and personell changes. The VA should handle this vdc program in house instead of paying this company high fees.

ElderSource is an incredible organization, staffed by kind and compassionate people, who help seniors in need, or in crisis. Renee Sares is a remarkable advocate for seniors in Volusia and Jacksonville counties. If ElderSource can't help with a solution, chances are they know where to send you. They deserve 10 stars.

Do not hate this place. But for the name Elder Source one would think that the type of assistance expected from this organization would and should be a lot more than getting a list of places to look at. The building appears to let one think that a senior in need of a place to live would definitely find all the help one needs here. NO. A list of possible places to check out for a homeless senior is not sufficient help. Come on people. Take me to a definite place to stay. I am a tired senior in need of a safe, secure, comfortable place to lay My weary bones. I worked all my life. I deserve to be treated with respect. We will all be here one day. You too. Hopefully you will be treated better.

My mom was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic pancreatic cancer
about 6 weeks ago - Started aggressive chemo - Have been trying to get in touch with Elder care for 3 weeks - Messages left- extended hold times - I finally get someone on the phone at 8;00a - Ste tells me they are backed up! o and made me a phone appt for My Mom 2 months away! This is terrible!!!!!! And they are called Elder Source Wow.
