Beautiful park. Beach area for swimming and separate area for fishing. Lot's of trout and small fish, good for young fishers. Reason it's not five stars: No clean bathroom/changing area, just a port-a-potty (not clean on my visit).

Stratton Brook State Park was established in 1949 and is on 145 acres. It's located in Simsbury and has a huge parking lot; there's even an accessible parking lot. When I parked my vehicle, the first thing I noticed was the lovely red covered foot bridge and pond. There was a huge structure that has a fireplace and picnic tables; it's called the Massaco Forest Pavilion, it is historic and built in 1935. There is a boardwalk near the small beach and more picnic tables. Dogs are not allowed on the beach. Restrooms are available; a porta potty and in a small building (not sure if it's open). There were easy trails throughout; I walked on a short one and it was peaceful; quite a few people walking, dog walking, and a couple of them were fishing. I have a feeling this place gets busy in the summer and on weekends. I went on a Spring weekday, so it was nice and quiet.

Beautiful park with something for everyone. There is a small beach, lots of walking trails, fishing spots, and dogs are welcome on the trails (just not the beach). There's a very nice environmental education center (that has stickers for kiddos). The lake was very warm the day we went and the beach was well maintained. We saw a bunch of different birds, a turtle, and so many caterpillars. The walking trails are well maintained, shady, and spacious. Even with a few people walking by the trails do not feel overly crowded. Overall, a really great place to spend a day.

Beautiful and not too crowded. Nice little pond for the kids to roll up their pants, take off their shoes and play in the water and sand. Well maintained flat trail but nice woodsy trails off of that if you are feeling a bit more adventurous. A nice place to bring the whole family! There are picnic tables and a board walk along the edge of the beach. The water isn't very deep.

Such a beautiful place for a family hike, picnic or even fishing! I have seen countless Great Blue Herons, White Tail Haws, Red & White Headed Woodpeckers and even bears! (Always be respectful of the wildlife, they mind there business if you mind yours!) The loops are so beautiful and very easy for small children or older folk!

I had a fantastic time with family and friends. Restrooms are clean. It wasn't packed with people and there where plenty of picnic tables and grills for anyone to use. Big plus is there is alot of shade if you get too hot. No floaties allowed when park staff is there and be aware that no lifeguards are on duty. Nice little trails and small nature center for kids to learn with some activities..

It's Sunday July 19th 2020 my soulmate and I (her name is Heather) went to check out the Stratton Brook State Park for the first time because it was 96 degrees out and we wanted to go swimming pretty badly. Well we went there and stay about 1hr and a half. Such a beautiful place to go. Nice people everyone keeping their distance. The water was extremely nice and warm. Although I wasn't a fan of the seaweed in the pond the swim itself was very nice. Very relaxing. But anyways absolutely beautiful place to come and relax and swim and do other things. Will def be back. Oh and side note come early because some areas the parking fills up fast but there's a big parking area nearby that's close enough to the swimming area although some walking is required.

Free park with lots to do. There's a small sandy beach area and swimming, a walking, hiking, biking trail, picnic area, spot for kids to play catch or soccer, we saw people running, fishing, and there was a big birthday party. Parking was close as we're the bathrooms. The area was very clean and all the dogs we saw were leashed (thankfully). I had kids ages 6-16 with me and they loved it.
