Darcie (Painted Dog Travel) has a unique magical touch and intuition when it comes to creating memorable trips. For traveling internationally for the first time, I couldn't have been happier with the wildlife-focused curated experiences we had on our itinerary; everything from snorkeling with whale sharks near La Paz, to Cabo San Lucas oceanic safaris (where I got to see humpback whales breaching for an hour and rays!), and our incredible glamping experience on Isla Espiritu Santo. And did I mention that our local guides were so knowledgeable and friendly? That's the kind of personalized touch that Darcie provides; they take the time and effort to ensure that your trip is what YOU, the client, want to get out of your journey, down to the finest details. She made this trip remarkable, stress-free, and I got to learn so much along the way! I am looking forward to working with them to plan the next grand adventure!

Darcie brings an incredible amount of experience and knowledge to the trip planning process. She is communicative, organized, and an absolute pleasure to work with.

Painted Dog Travel crafted a completely epic holiday trip to Baja for our 9-person group. The trip spanned 10-days and included bucket-list wildlife encounters such as breaching humpback whales, swimming with fevers of mobula rays, snorkeling with whale sharks, and swimming with California sea lions! Accommodations included a central location in Todos Santos, close to downtown and the excellent art and food scene the small surfing community is known for; and, camping on Isla Espiritu Santo - a must for any ocean lovers' visiting Baja. I could go on, but you will have to go see for yourself!

Darcie put together the most incredible trip for us to the Baja pennisnsula. She found the most wonderful outfitters and unique places. We saw non-stop wildlife and spent the trip with the most wonderful people! Couldn't reccomend Painted Dog Travel enough.

Darcie (Painted Dog Travel) is exceptional. We are very selective with what we want to see and do. Darcie worked with us on several exotic itineraries to different locations in Africa and every detail was covered. Darcie listened to what we wanted and she arranged excellent adventures -- safaris, mountain gorillas, great white sharks, exploring on our own..... everything! I recently contacted Darcie about a trip for me and two girl friends (much less exotic than our previous requests of Darcie) and she delivered wonderfully on the Girls' Trip as well. I will check with Darcie first before arranging any future trips -- she makes it sooo easy.

Hands-down Darcie is the BEST
I am so Blessed to have connected with Darcie. Darcie was recommended to me in 2018 as I was planning a life-long dream trip to Kenya. As she interviewed me about my desires and needs and my love of all of nature's beauty on Mother Gaia we found common ground. Darcie is a certified guide and lives near my 12 year old granddaughter. I have been trying to connect the two ever since as I am sure Darcie would be a fantastic woman mentor for her.
Darcie has curated four trips for me so far, Kenya (2022), British Columbia and Alberta (2023), 10-days in Telluride CO for the 2024 Telluride Bluegrass Festival and a month's long journey to the Canadian Maritimes this October/November 2024. One of the joys of working with Darcie is her collaborative nature. I love this aspect. I start by providing the framework within which she curates the details. She connected me with an indigenous guide in Banff National Park and I had a wonderful day hiking 10 miles through beautiful forests learning about Mother Gaia and the indigenous peoples. Tim is a cultural anthropologist and we had 7 hours worth of amazing conversations. Darcie has also found a guide for me in St. Johns, Newfoundland Canada. St. Johns, on the island portion of Newfoundland, has great history and is the eastern most town. It's just these touches that enhance my travel experiences.

Painted Dog Travel did a phenomenal job of planning our large group trip to Baja, Mexico over Christmas break. Darcie began by ensuring she understood our vision for the vacation: from budget, to desired activities and adventure levels, atmosphere and values. She thinks of everything, including what travel days might feel like for a toddler, or considerations to take around holiday days. We are so grateful for her dedication to us as customers, but also to the local organizations and people that made our experience so amazing. She is committed to fostering relationships between guests and the local communities and guides, and preserving and giving back to the ecosystems we were so lucky to explore.

More specifically- our family and friends enjoyed exploring the town of Todos Santos, with incredible meals everywhere we went, scenic and fun mountain biking, surfing lessons, hiking and playing on the beach. We took day trips for snorkel safari (which led to the most unbelievable whale spectacular anyone had ever witnessed!), deep sea fishing (which fed a group of 11 for multiple days!), and spending the morning with a cooperative whale shark.

After 6 days in Todos, we spent three amazing nights on Isla Espiritu Santo. We were blown away by the hospitality of the staff, amazing food, deep knowledge and care of the guides, and super comfortable glamping setup. We snorkeled with sea lions, sea turtles and other incredible marine life, and saw dolphins and leaping mobular rays from our boat. Absolutely spectacular! This site and company never would have crossed my radar with my own research and planning- Painted Dog Travel seeks to find these amazing partnerships and experiences that make your vacations truly unforgettable.
