I had the pleasure of attending the Fort Cross Autumn Jubilee and Haunted Hayride this past weekend. What sweet Fall fun!!

Fort Cross has been covered with pumpkins and the cutest decorations for the season. They do hoedowns throughout the day which involve singing and square dancing. From axe-throwing & slingshots to a lovely Lilac Maze, there’s lots of great activities to enjoy. They even have a Reptile Show and a Petting Zoo with goats, pigs, rabbits and guinea pigs! The Hayride may have been my favorite part, though! I loved getting to learn more about Julian while seeing a bit more of Fort Cross. I also recommend taking part in the Treasure Hunt—a wonderful way to explore the grounds!

The Haunted Hayride was an eerie, fun way to spend the night. Sharing ghost stories makes the experience unique and collaborative. It’s also a lovely way to enjoy the gorgeous dark sky full of stars that Julian has to offer. Spooky without being too scary for all ages!

Great fun for kids, adults and couples alike. If you’re coming to Julian in October, I highly recommend booking a visit to Fort Cross!

The kids loved it! Everyone got to do archery and axe throwing multiple times, the slingshot/paintball… you only got 10 pellets, which kind of sucked. I would have paid for extra balls since it took several tries for my daughter to get the hang of it. We didn’t feel rushed at all during our time at adventure area. The animal portion seemed more for smaller kids, so I wish we could have spent the whole time in the adventure area. Everyone was super friendly.
They are located right across the street from a co-op, Julian Cider, etc. great location with eateries near it without having to go into downtown Julian.

The most idyllic place for kids in San Diego, hands-down. We went to the Fort Criss Old Timey adventures autumn festival and it was a blast. We did archery, axe throwing, paintball, slingshots, and candle dipping. There is a lilac maze, an old Goldmine, and a fun general store with old-time candy. Highly recommend especially during the spring and fall for their special events.

I just love this place, and wish I was 10 years old again to experience it as a child. My boys had a great time, though things got a bit competitive with the tomahawk and archery activities. I'm so glad places like this exist, as it's such a unique, rustic, and wholesome place for kids (and adults) to feel they are part of nature and interacting in a sensory way that is so rare in the real world these days. I would love to come back in spring when the wildflowers are blooming! Thank you for keeping us all young at heart by maintaining magical places like this in the world.

Hana led our tour and she was wonderful! We had a great time! My granddaughter enjoyed trying out slingshots, axes and archery. She loved the petting zoo and the reptile show. Ended our time there with a hayride and a sing along with Hana acting out the 12 days of Christmas! ?

We originally visited Fort Cross in 2018 with a school group of about 60 people and enjoyed it so much we had to go back. This year we brought almost 80 people with us and it was even better! We did archery, sling shotting, tomahawk tossing, visited the reptile enclosure, petting zoo, lilac maze, and had an AMAZING good ole fashioned hoedown! Thank you again, from the bottom of our hearts, for your invigorating, educational, immersive, creative, and incredibly fun hospitality! We already can’t wait to come back and see you guys again!

I put together a homeschool field trip to Fort Cross last weekend. We went to the Johnny Appleseed event last fall and loved it so much, we decided to come back again this year for their Autumn Jubilee. From the hoedown to the crafts, to the hayride to the reptiles to the delicious apple cider, it was a blast! We had 13 families join us. We were separated into smaller groups which made for a more intimate experience for each family. The staff were very accommodating, engaging, and super fun. Making the reservation and working with the owners was easy and smooth. The families all thanked me for coordinating such a fun event. We will definitely be back to Fort Cross!!
